Asha Menon

BSc PT, Dip MDT

Asha Menon has passed her physical therapy from the prestigious Seth G. S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai in Nov of 1988. She started her clinical practise in the tertiary care hospital Bombay Hospital and Research Centre, Marine Lines, Mumbai and alongside started a successful private practise. She owns Shri Giridhari Physiotherapy Center, where abundant opportunities are given to those who would like to establish as an excellent skilled MDT clinical practitioner. In 2014, she took MDT to higher realms when the first tertiary care hospital in India started the facility of a Certified McKenzie Clinic – Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital, Juhu, Mumbai. 

Asha holds a certification in teaching adult education from Michigan University, U.S.A. 

Having completed the course “Psychologically - Informed Practise: Implementing a new model of patient care”, helps her identify and teach the drivers of pain and disability in greater depth. 

She embarked on the MDT education from 2003, and has completed her Dip MDT post clinical training at NHS, UK. She is the first Faculty from India in 2017 and is now a Senior Faculty. She has been the mentor for training faculty in India. 

She has been the pioneer for India to bring the official McKenzie Certification to India from 2008 as an Official Representative of McKenzie Institute International, New Zealand. As a founder director she established the McKenzie Institute India, 28th of the worldwide Institute. She has sat on the McKenzie Institute India Board as Executive Director for a term of 10 years. 

She has been mentoring those in MDT education since 2008, and now has several coming for mentoring and consolidating the MDT knowledge at her clinic. 

After her graduation in Physical Therapy she has continuing educational certifications in Taping Techniques upper and lower limbs from McConnell Institute, Neurodynamic Solutions both upper and lower quadrant with Michael Shacklock, Cranio Sacral Therapy (Basic Level) – Upledger Institute, PNF Techniques, SI Joint dysfunctions with Richard Jackson seminars, USA. 

 

Besides orthopaedics she also holds certificates in adult and paediatric NDT, and sensory integration, that adds to her calibre in understanding co-existing neurological conditions when treating or teaching orthopaedic conditions. 

 

Besides physiotherapy, Asha also has certificates from Bombay university for Accountancy, Secretarial Practise, Organisation of Commerce, Economics, Business communications, Costing and Income tax, Business law, Commerce and Marketing, Business and Economic development, 

 

She has been an active member of the professional body of physiotherapy in India, and has sat on several executive committees till date, been a scientific chair, presented at several conferences, universities, academic institutions, general public and to doctors. 

 

She also holds certificates in Reiki Master level, Advanced Crystal Therapy and Sub-Concious Meditation, Lama Fera – 2. She uses mediation as a stress buster for 3 decades now. 

 

Asha is dynamic, who loves the nature, trekking, sketching, cooking, is a classical dancer and badminton player.
